Common Questions

How RootFix Works.

What is the Performance Assessment and why is it mandatory?+
The Performance Assessment is our required starting point — a 60-minute deep dive into your past history, biomechanics, injury history, and movement "leaks." We don't guess. We assess everything. This is how we build your personalized training roadmap. Without it, we wouldn't have the full picture we need to help you well.
How is RootFix different from a regular physical therapist?+
Physical therapists do great work and we have deep respect for the profession. But here’s the truth — getting moving better and staying moving better are two completely different things. Most programs stop when the symptoms do. RootFix doesn’t. We start by identifying the root cause through a thorough movement assessment — not just where it hurts, but why it keeps hurting. We address it at its source to get you moving better, and then we keep going. We rebuild your movement under load, reintegrate real strength, and take your body to a level of resilience that makes sure it never breaks down the same way again. Movement is the starting line. Performance is the finish.
Do I need to be an athlete to work with RootFix?+
Absolutely not. Our clients range from competitive athletes to grandparents who want to keep up with their grandkids. If you have a body and you want it to work better and hurt less, RootFix is for you. The goal is always the same: a body you can trust.
How many sessions will I need?+
It depends on the complexity of your situation, which is exactly why we start with the Performance Assessment. After that session, you'll have a clear roadmap with a realistic timeline. Some clients see major changes in 6-8 sessions. Others with more complex histories work with us long-term.
What should I expect at my first session?+
Your first session is your Performance Assessment. Come ready to talk through your full history — injuries, surgeries, past trainings, lifestyle, and goals. We'll also move you through assessments to identify movement patterns and weak links. Wear comfortable clothes you can move in. By the end, you'll have your roadmap.
Where are you located?+
We're located at 8801 University Ave, Suite 28, Clive, IA 50235. Easily accessible from the Des Moines metro area. If you have questions about parking or directions, feel free to reach out at almin@rootfixperformance.com.
Do you accept insurance?+
We are a private pay practice. We don't accept insurance, which allows us to give you more time and more personalization than a typical insurance-driven model permits. Many clients find that the investment pays for itself by addressing problems that other approaches may not have fully resolved.
